Online Safety

At St. Peter’s C of E Primary we know that keeping children safe online is increasingly important in today's world.

We take our responsibility to keep children safe online very seriously.

We teach online safety skills through our PSHE and Computing lessons and always raise additional awareness during National Online Safety Day. As a school we also regularly share updates and safety guides with our parents/carers and all staff.

We work with E-Safety Consultant Alan Mackenzie to ensure all of our pupils, staff and parents stay safe online. Visit his website www.esafety-adviser.com for more information. Stay updated with the latest developments in E-Safety by reading Alan’s monthly e-newsletter, available here:

We use the SMART approach to Online Safety:

  • S encourages young people to be safe by not giving out their personal details online
  • M draws attention to the risks associated with meeting someone you only know online
  • A highlights the risks of accepting emails, pictures and text messages from unknown sources
  • R is a reminder that not all information found online is necessarily reliable
  • T encourages children to tell someone if something happens or they meet someone online that makes them feel uncomfortable
