At St. Peter’s, we’ll equip our historians with a deepening understanding and knowledge of the past, gaining an insight into what has gone before, both locally and globally.
Through an inspiring, enquiry-led curriculum, pupils will reflect and question process and change across many diverse cultures, stimulating respect and personal identity.
It is our intention that history will foster critical thinkers, who are both competent and confident examiners of the past. We stimulate pupils’ interests through a carefully- chosen programme of study, which includes looking at the lives of significant individuals, and exploring events within and beyond living memory. They will discover links and make connections between different chronological periods, gaining an appreciation of how history is open to interpretation, and how previous actions contribute to shaping our present lives. By the acquisition of skills and examination of evidence, they will pose and analyse questions, resulting in a considered response to a diverse range of key events.
‘The more you know about the past, the better you are prepared for the future.’
