Welcome to Year 5, where pupils continue to grow as confident, independent learners and take on new challenges as they prepare for the final stage of primary school.

In Year 5, we place a strong emphasis on reading, developing both fluency and a deeper understanding of a wide range of texts. Pupils explore rich and engaging literature, helping them to think critically, discuss ideas and develop a lifelong love of reading.

Our curriculum is designed to inspire curiosity and stretch thinking across all subjects. Through high-quality teaching and stimulating learning experiences, children are encouraged to take pride in their work and aim high in everything they do.

A key focus in Year 5 is building independence and responsibility. Pupils are supported to organise their learning, manage their time effectively and develop resilience when faced with challenges. They are encouraged to reflect on their progress and take ownership of their own learning journey.
